Acupuncture Needle Case
prusaprinters

A small-ish case for the acupuncture needle that comes with the Prusa printers.

After using the needle for the first time to fix a clog on my printer, I proceeded to sting myself with it when trying to put it back in the small plastic pack in which it comes (it actually went through the plastic cover at an angle). I did not need acupuncture at that time.

I thought it would be nice to have a small (but not too small) case to store it in and avoid accidents like this while making it easy to spot and grab in my toolbox.

The resulting print is a bit messy and the snap cap I tried to make didn't end up working very well (it's still secure because of the low tolerance between the cap and bottom of the case), but I didn't bother re-printing it because it still does the job. I adjusted values for a better fit but didn't test them. Let me know if it works for you.

You might also want to open up the Fusion 360 file and tweak some parameters to test-fit it on your specific printer. Tweaking the
cap_bump_depth
slightly will make the cap bump bigger or smaller, and
cap_tolerance
controls the spacing between the cap and the body of the case.

I also suggest turning on External perimeters first for a better chance to get the correct dimensions when printing.
