https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DHebJ_P8dU Tight Fit - 1/19/2019 - I made some design tweaks by increasing the bung diameter by .5mm which resulted in a very tight fit. I was able to twist the print into the pump without the rubber O ring and am extremely confident this new model will work better than the former. My reason for making these changes was that the former made the water-tight seal, but there was still enough clearance between the pump housing and the bung to make for a weak connection and the two could pivot and break that seal. This Tight Fit mod completely remedies that issue. The newer AAPW160 pumps use a thicker diameter impeller shaft and the center hole will need to be drilled with a 3/32 bit to open the hole enough to push the larger shaft in. I intentionally left the hole smaller to suit older style pumps. If you don't have that drill bit, you can edit the variable called "splineShaftDia" from 3 to maybe 3.3 or thereabouts and generate your corrected STL to print. I modified the inlet bung of the Active Aqua 160 GPH water pump to redirect the inlet water opening to face straight down. By salvaging the rubber O ring and the rubber feet, this Thing replaces 2 parts of the pump, and the rubber feet provide the head clearance (water level) that the pump will lower the level to. When used in a hydroponic application, generally, the grower will tilt a reservoir such that the water favors one corner, well this pump will now drain about 98%-99% of the water. Previously, the pump would be able to extract 85% of the water in the reservoir, leaving the grower with 15% of spent nutrients. I have next to 0% of spent nutrients now. Edit - 10/26/2018 - I added a mod to accomplish the same result for the AAPW400 pump. You'll need a 1/2" PVC street elbow, and push the AAPW400 base into it to have the same ability from the 400 as I have from the 160. I designed the 400 for a friend, but why not share it as well?
