Activated Charcoal Mask - Integrated Remix
thingiverse
UPDATE 6/10/20: I've made significant improvements to the design, optimizing materials and enhancing the seal. Check it out here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4441283 Hi Everyone! I created a 3-filter replacement for my 3M respirator filters (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4247406) and adapted it into the Nanohack COVID-19 mask, remixing Lafactoria3D's version (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4225667). I've printed and tested it. If you've already printed the receptacle, clamp, and grate from my other filter project, no need to recreate them - they're exactly the same. Just print the mask part, and you'll be good to go! Filter Assembly: To assemble each filter cartridge, follow these steps: place a cotton pad at the bottom of a receptacle, add just a little bit of activated charcoal powder, then another cotton pad, the grate with the little nub pointing upward, and finally thread the clamp on top. Additional Note: For better sealing on the threads, I highly recommend using teflon tape, caulk, or hot glue to seal the threaded surfaces. General Critique: The basic mask design is good but needs tailoring to each person's face for an adequate seal. Since hard plastic can't achieve this, consider gooping up some silicone caulk or cooled-down hot glue (something squishy). Good Luck and Stay Safe! #FaceCoveringChallenge UPDATE 4/27/20: I've set up a program where I print these masks for my neighborhood, giving them away for free or accepting donations from those who need one. I encourage you all to do the same!
