Activated Carbon Air Filter Adapter for Car to HVAC Conversion
thingiverse
We've been hit hard by the recent California fires, resulting in a serious decline in air quality. This has led to a severe shortage of HVAC air filters. However, I recently ordered a new car air filter and realized that instead of filtering smoky air after it entered our apartment, it would be more effective to filter it as it comes in. I designed this vent cover to hold the linked air filter for the air inlet to our apartment. I hope others will find inspiration in my design or use it immediately. Our vent has two bolts spaced 6.5 inches apart. The cover here will fit over an 8x8 inch vent and hold a filter that is 8.25x8.25x0.6 inches. Here's the air filter I used: https://amzn.to/2Sde1K6 I assembled the cover with four 3mmx35mm bolts and two 3mmx15mm bolts. If you don't have these long bolts on hand, you can use superglue or epoxy to join the WallPlate and Standoff parts and then attach the top cover with shorter ~3mm bolts.
