Action Camera Helmet Mount Customizable
thingiverse
I need some assistance with this particular project. I've created a GoPro/action cam helmet chin mount based on akun2500's design, but I'm experiencing difficulties getting the mirror to produce a solid object. I'm hoping someone more skilled in SCAD than myself can modify the model to work as one continuous piece. Ideally, I'd like to incorporate the holes directly into the design, as you can see where I've commented out that section of the model. The camera mount itself is not my creation and unfortunately, I couldn't get it to print strongly enough using filament, so I had someone use a resin printer to produce it, and it's holding up well. Currently, you can replicate this setup by pulling both right and left pieces separately into Blender, performing some magic (which currently escapes me), and then exporting the STL. After printing both parts, you'll need to drill the holes. In my experience, Velcro has too much movement to effectively secure the mount to the helmet, so I use 3M Dual Lock instead. I've also created a tiny steel braided cable that goes over my GoPro case and clips around the helmet chin as an added safety measure. If you could share your helmet brand and model along with the parameters that worked for you, it would be incredibly helpful in providing others with a starting point for their own projects.
