Action Cam handle (diving)
thingiverse
UPDATE: Forcella V2 After reported weakness of the fork area, the design was strengthened by making it thicker. A thorough test has not been conducted yet, so the level of improvement remains uncertain. The chance to remove the name from the handle and replace it with a logo was taken. The logo now proudly displays on the handle. Yet another underwater Action Cam handle is designed! A long search for a suitable handle for an underwater Action Cam led to the realization that none existed, so a custom design was created. The design fits small printers like mine (build plate 130x130x130mm) and consists of three parts: the top part with the cam holder, the shaft, and the bottom cap. These parts are screwed together using a "bottle-like" thread. The inside of the domes features a conical design to minimize support requirements. The female threads in the shaft were successfully printed without supports; however, it is recommended to avoid using them due to cleaning difficulties. The threads are quite snug and required some sanding and lubrication to assemble easily. The lubrication greatly helps with assembly. There is no need to disassemble the parts once complete unless a lace replacement is needed. The top part has a peg and a hole for attaching the lace. A loose lace can cause the handle to hang from your wrist, resulting in the cam sinking down if it loosens from the main body... The design is intentionally hollow and loose to allow water to flow freely and remove buoyancy. The handle now features an engraved logo instead of "ANDREA." If requested, the engraving can be removed and replaced with a custom logo. Happy Printing!
