Actin filament construction set

Actin filament construction set

thingiverse

This protein design replicates cell processes where actin, a shape-maintaining cytoskeleton protein, assembles into helical filaments from monomers under specific conditions, such as interactions with other proteins or salt presence. Learn more about actin at this link: http://www.rcsb.org/pdb/101/motm.do?momID=19. To print the model, use KISSlicer at 0.16 layer height and 0.45 extrusion width, scaling support flow rate to 75%. Ensure elevation from platform for proper first layers and avoid a non-heated platform. For realism, assemble multiple monomer prints, with a stable filament structure needing at least three; adding more is easier on the plus end. Note the optimal orientation for strength, surface quality, and support effectiveness, as edited on 9/20/2013: do not rotate the monomer design.
