I proudly present my 3mm laser-cut linear slide crafted from salvaged acrylic scraps. Initially, I threw out the idea as a lighthearted jab at a friend after testing it by moving it along the rail and shearing off any jagged edges and burrs - to my surprise, it now glides effortlessly with almost zero friction. Further investigation revealed that it could be a highly functional linear slide with minimal lubrication, possibly boasting an extended lifespan depending on the specific acrylic used. A clever trick might be to employ thin 80gsm paper shims to fine-tune the end caps for optimal performance.
