The plane was designed using Pinterest plans (https://br.pinterest.com/pin/369084131948188371/) and a gif from paperpino.net served as its mechanism basis. The main gear mechanism consists of two gears with a 1.2 ratio (18/15 teeth). After five cranks of the handle, the cycle is completed while the propeller remains stationary in the animation for effect. Solidworks 2016 was used to model the plane which is available in multiple formats including Simlab Composer 7, DAE, STEP, IGES, Parasolid, OBJ, 3D-PDF, SketchUp, 3DS and FBX. The renders were edited using IrfanView while frames were edited with Virtualdub and saved as AVI/X264 and BMP. Video remuxing was done using MyMP4BoxGui and gifs were made with PhotoScape. Simlab Composer 7 Mechanical Edition was used for rendering. The 3D-PDF and SIMLAB files are also animated.
