Acoustic Wooden Panel Hook for IKEA SKÅDIS Boards.

This is a hook, meant to be used to mount IKEA' SKÅDIS boards onto acoustic, wooden panels. The acoustic wooden panels have grown in popularity, but mounting anything to them can be difficult. This model allows you to mount these SKÅDIS board onto the panels. This is done by screwing in two screws (preferably from the back of the panels, to hide the screws) for each of the mounting hooks.
You'll need
For each SKÅDIS board that is to be mounted, you will need: - 4 of these printed hooks. - 4 to 8 small screws, depending on fit. Maximum 12mm in length. See "Assembly" below for more information.
Print
* Print the model flat/as the model is by default. * A brim might be needed for better adhesion to the bed. * Supports should not be needed. * Use 100% infill for best strength, since two of these will hold the weight of the entire board. The model in the pictures was printed with a Bambulab X1C printer at 0.12mm resolutionm, with 100% infill, and a brim. The print took roughly # minutes, including calibration.
Assembly
- you'll first need to choose if you want the screws to be visible or not. For them to not be visible, the panel (if already mounted) will have to be taken down. - choose which holes you want to mount the hooks. I've mounted them using the outermost holes on the board. - hold the SKÅDIS board at the height you want it to be mounted at, and measure the distance from the bottom of the acoustic panel, to top part of the holes where the hook should be mounted to. - Once measured, screw in two screws for each top mounting points. The hook will later fit in between the wooden panels, and so each of the screws will go into the middle of the wooden panel on each side of the hook. In this stage, just screw in the screws so they stay in place, no need to tighten too much. - All of the weight will be put on the upper two hooks. Therefore, screws are not a requirement for the bottom ones if the hooks can be mounted securely without. Test the fit of the, bottom mounting hooks by putting it in between the wooden panels, vertically. Then rotating it counter-clockwise so the hook is facing the right way. The hook should be upside down for the bottom hooks. - If the hooks are too loose without screws, use screws. Measure from the top of the top holes mounting point, to the bottom of the bottom holes. The distance for a standard horizontal 76x56 SKÅDIS board, will be roughly 500mm for the outermost holes. Then screw in two screws on either side of the mounting point, once again. - Then, test the fit for all the hooks. If the hooks are too lose, tighten the screws. Or if it is too difficult to get them in place, loosen them. Please note: in most cases, they do not have to be mounted too securely. To be able to put on (and take off) the board, leave some slack, atleast for the bottom two. Remember that the hook should be facing upward for the upper two, and downwards for the bottom two. To mount the board, the panel can be attached to the wall. The two top hooks has to be in place, and the bottom hooks should have some slack and will be adjusted later. Attach the board to the top hooks. Then slide down the bottom hooks, into the holes, and downward so the board is locked in place.
