Acoustic Guitar Jack Dowel

Acoustic Guitar Jack Dowel

thingiverse

A simple 1/4" dowel rod with handle I designed to help work on the jack on my acoustic/electric guitar. Having large hands, it's difficult (ok, impossible) for me to reach inside my acoustic guitar to work on the jack, which is built into the end pin and integrated with the strap button. Using a simple 1/4" dowel, I can remove the outside retaining ring on the strap button, insert the dowel into the jack, and push it inside far enough for me to reach it through the sound hole. After repairing it, I simply re-inserted the dowel into the end hole, slid the jack onto the dowel, and slide it back in place. If you use it, remember to insert the washer and nut on the dowel, outside the instrument. Just finger tighten it and you can then remove the dowel, tighten as needed, and you're good to go. Not a high effort thing, but it's functional and worked perfectly for what I needed it to do. Thought maybe it'd be helpful for others and wanted to throw it out here. Peace!
