Acoustic / Electric Thumb Piano
thingiverse
Create a thumb piano using scrap materials, such as bandsaw blades for keys. The rear features a 1/4" mono phone jack for amplifier attachment. Follow the instructions below. Print the lid and box, ensuring a tight press-fit during printing; if needed, scrape it to fit. The rear slits of the lid measure 4mm, accommodating wider blades if you remove some 1mm dividers. Grind sharp edges off the keys. Up to 14 slots are available for tuning. Place the bridge under the keys in desired slot to prevent buzzing. For an electric option, attach a piezo buzzer disk to the lid's underside and wire it to a 1/4" mono phone jack. Connect a standard guitar cable to amplify sound. No additional electronics are necessary; disks can be purchased or salvaged. A "Freebird" cover video is forthcoming.
