Acorn Salt and Pepper Shakers
thingiverse
Add some personality to your table with a pair of unique salt & pepper shakers shaped like acorns. It's a pretty straightforward idea that the salt shaker be white and the pepper in black, but let's push it a bit further than that. Who says we can't mix things up? We don't need the top and bottom to match either. Shake it up, have some fun with it! Each acorn-shaped shaker uses about 15 grams of filament to print in just over an hour. That means you can print out a bunch for different occasions or as gifts - they'll be a real treat! Or maybe you'd rather squirrel them away for safekeeping. Want to learn how to create designs like this one? There's a tutorial on Inventor Studios Tinkercad that will show you the ropes. Follow the whole collection and you'll develop and refine your modeling skills in no time. Update: Now you can get STL files for just the bottom, just the top, or the top with internal support - just in case global supports generated by slicers mess up your threads. Instructions I've had great luck printing shakers out of both PLA and ABS without a hitch. The top requires a raft to be used, but supports are totally optional. On other projects, I've noticed that Slic3r isn't always the best at printing screw threads - especially with ABS. If you have to use Slic3r, try laying out 2 or more shakers in one job so each layer has time to cool before moving on. A huge shout-out to Formatize for sharing their brilliant original acorn design!
