Acorn Nuts, 3/8 & 1/2
thingiverse
In a hardware store, you'll find numerous items that were once expensive but are now easily printable with a 3D printer. One useful item I found is nylon nuts, which cost between $.75-$4 depending on size. To make ABS nuts, I CAD-up the design for handy use in Mendel creation. The US standard sizes work well with my current materials; others may opt for metric versions. After printing, seal surfaces with acetone and retap threads for smooth fitting.
