Acetylcholinesterase is an enzyme that rapidly breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine into its component parts. Researchers believe this enzyme's activity can be influenced by allosteric regulation. Roca et al., in a 2018 study, pinpointed two potential new areas on Acetylcholinesterase where allosteric control might occur through computational modeling and protein comparison.
