Summary My motorcycle took another tumble, failing to impress as it often does. This time, the petrol tank lever gave out under the strain. A replacement would take months to arrive, which was unacceptable. I decided to take matters into my own hands and design a new lever. Using PETG, I printed out a prototype, which required some trial and error to get right. The second version is now installed on my bike, after spending some time tweaking the design. This was my first foray into 3D printing, so it's no surprise that the finished product showed its inexperience. The final photo reveals just how flimsy it was initially. Print Settings Printer: Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 100% Notes: Make sure there are no supports inside recessed areas. Standards NGSS Overview and Background Lesson Plan and Activity I'm still working on that part. Materials Needed PETG filament - a specialized, gasoline-resistant material. Unfortunately, my PETG is too fragile to use in this project, so I've had to fall back on ABS.
