The Accuracy International-manufactured sniper rifle, famously known as L96, was adopted by the British Army in the mid-1980s and is also used by police and special forces with modifications. The weapon comes equipped with a Leupold Mark 4 fixed multiplicity x10 optical sight, while L96A1 models have additional sights like L1A1 “Schmidt and Bender” class 6x42 or LORIS “Geodesis Defense”. In the civilian market, it is considered a "sporting" rifle, priced at around $20,000 in Russia or between $10,000 and $12,000 from the manufacturer. The sniper rifle set the record for the longest combat sniper shot in history, achieved by British military officer Harrison Craig at a distance of 2,475 meters using an AWM.
