This intricate ornament was crafted using Solidworks software, compiled with the precision of KISS Slicer, and brought to life at the Dallas Makerspace. Print Settings: Printer: The Polyprinter 229 proved to be an ideal choice for this project. Rafts: Interestingly, rafts didn't pose a significant issue in this case. Supports: Strategically placed supports were essential for achieving a smooth print. Resolution: A 50% precision setting ensured that every detail was accurately replicated. Infill: The optimal infill percentage of 12.5% allowed for a perfect balance between weight and structure. Notes: Coarse support material was found to be the best option, as it minimized build-up under the neck and in string holes on the body. However, when cleaning the string holes, excessive force must be avoided, as it can cause damage. Thankfully, a little super glue proved to be just what was needed to repair the issue. Post-Printing: The ornament was meticulously prepared for display by applying a few coats of gray primer, followed by a vibrant base coat in bold red and white stripes. Additional layers of Krylon glitter blast in gold glow added an enchanting sparkle, which was finally sealed with a couple of coats of acrylic top coat to ensure its durability.
