A previously undiscovered dinosaur species has been uncovered in Mexico, dating back a staggering 85 million years. This incredible find marks the discovery of the oldest dinosaur yet to be found in the Coahuila region. Researchers at Coahuila's Desert Museum have spent eight years analyzing bones and bone fragments unearthed from Ocampo in northwest Coahuila. Their findings led them to conclude that a young Acantholipan gonzalezi, part of the nodosaurus family, perished when it was swept away by a river. Later, its remains were deposited on what would eventually become the coast, providing valuable insights into this previously unknown species. Despite only having partial skeletons available for examination, a team comprising experts from Coahuila's Desert Museum, Chiapas, and Germany agreed that Acantholipan gonzalezi warranted classification as a new dinosaur species. It's estimated that this remarkable creature weighed slightly over half a tonne when fully grown and reached lengths of approximately 3.5 meters. Adults are believed to have measured anywhere from five to six meters in length, an astonishing size for any dinosaur.
