Adding a Power Meter to a Metal Power Strip. A simple power meter is installed on the side of the metal power strip. To complete this addition, two holes need to be drilled into the power strip. One hole is for a magnet and the other is for the power wire. To prevent damage from sharp edges, protective measures should be taken. The power strip has two M5 holes that can be used for attachment. If the power strip is metal and can accommodate M5 holes, they should be tapped or nuts should be used instead. Once secured in place, a printed box will cover all the wires, and an attached bottom plate will close the box. The tabs on the meter are left intact to allow for easy hand filing to secure the meter within the printed unit. This is a fun project that you can enjoy!
