Abyss AB-1266 (Phi) headphone - vented baseplate for the earpads
thingiverse
This is an adjustable baseplate designed for the Abyss AB-1266 (Phi) headphone's earpads. With this baseplate, you can fine-tune the venting of your headphones, making the pressure of the earpads less crucial in determining sound quality. As a result, you can wear these headphones like regular over-the-ear models. The baseplate adds 2mm to the height compared to the standard baseplate. You can adjust the amount of venting by using the 18 spacers or sides provided. To complete this upgrade, you will need two baseplates, 36 spacers, and 36 neodymium magnets with a diameter of 5mm, 1.5mm thickness, and n50 (or higher) strength. First, attach the magnets to the upper side of the baseplate-earpad interface before placing the earpads in position. You can use glue or double-sided tape (such as 3M 9474LE). If you encounter difficulties finding n50 magnets, which are often mislabeled with lower grades, consider using six spacers with lower-grade magnets inside each baseplate on the closed side towards the headphone. After several hours of listening and determining your preferred level of opening, permanently secure all spacers in place with a drop of instant glue (though this step is optional). This upgrade comes in two versions: one with a flat interior and another with a curved design that may help reduce static waves. You can use this baseplate with other earpads from brands like Audeze, Dekoni, or Angle Pads.
