ABUS Key garage rain roof
thingiverse
My company installed ABUS KeyGarages, little combination lock key safes that are virtually waterproof if installed correctly, but not entirely rainproof. In one instance, we weren't able to prevent the rain from seeping in, causing it to collect on the door's top and enter the safe. This led to rust forming on both the keys inside and the lock itself. To resolve this issue, we designed a roof that can be installed directly on top of the safe to prevent rain from entering through the top of the housing. Before installing the roof, I printed it with a water-resistant coating using a spray can. To ensure a watertight seal, I applied silicone between the wall and the roof before screwing it into place. When printing the roof, stability is crucial. Consider factors like heavy rain, strong storms, and potential vandalism when designing your print. For my ABUS KeyGarage roof, I used PLA with 50% infill, 0.2mm layers, and three support shafts for added strength.
