He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice from 1944 to 1947. Alberto Viani worked as an assistant for Arturo Martini starting in 1944. When Martini died in 1947, Viani took over his position as chair of sculpture at the Academy. Viani co-founded the group Fronte Nuovo delle Arti with Renato Birolli in 1946. The artistic work of Alberto Viani was strongly influenced by Arturo Martini initially. In later years, he turned to a more abstract style, creating sculptures that resemble those of Hans Arp and Constantin Brancusi. Alberto Viani created sculptures using plaster, stone, or bronze. His works are characterized by round and soft forms with flowing shapes. Many of his pieces evoke the human body, but they do not actually depict it. In 1955, Alberto Viani participated in the first documenta in Kassel, Germany. He also represented Italy at the second documenta in 1959. In 1983, Viani received an Antonio Feltrinelli Prize for Art. He was a renowned sculptor who created unique pieces that captivated audiences worldwide. (Credit: Wikipedia) This object is part of "Scan The World".
