Abstract Giraffe
thingiverse
I designed a simple giraffe model for kicks, which landed it right at home in the hackerspace in Portland Oregon. That's where you'll find some 3d printed zebras adorning the walls, but I thought they looked like they could use a buddy. Those zebra just got a new 3D printed pal. It was a pretty cool moment, kind of like that Mr. Rogers thing. I'm thrilled with how the giraffe turned out, even if I might fiddle with it to make it slimmer and come up with a version where its front legs are flat. The printer used for this job has a stringing issue (chances are the print head was running too hot). I enabled supports in Cura, but ideally this model should be printable without any extra help. The angle of the front legs is 60 degrees and under normal circumstances it would print just fine on its own.
