I reach for the lump of clay on my workbench, its cool surface inviting me to shape it into something entirely new. My fingers begin to manipulate the material, molding and shaping it until I have created a crude, yet strangely captivating face. The eyes are mere indentations at this point, but they seem to stare back at me with an unblinking intensity that is both unnerving and intriguing. As I continue to work the clay, the features become more defined - the nose, the mouth, the jawline - until I am left staring at a visage that is both familiar and yet utterly alien. It's as if I've channeled some ancient deity or mythical creature into this inanimate form, and it's watching me with an air of quiet malevolence.
