Absolute Encoder Disk

Human: 7-bit Gray code absolute encoder disk. Originally designed for use in a wind vane within my Weather Station (lu9aga.dyndns.org), but can easily be applied to any device requiring absolute axis position assertion with precision (5° granularity in this case). Seven optocouplers must be incorporated to read the position Gray code accurately. I utilized 3mm IR LEDs and IR phototransistors for optimal performance.\r\n\r\nThis disk replaced a graphic film version mounted on a methacrylate disk. Both versions can be viewed side by side in one of the photographs.\r\n\r\nThe diameter is 140mm, with a thickness of 1.2mm.\r\n\r\nLet me know if you'd like to scale the model. I can upload the .skp file for your convenience.\r\nI apologize beforehand for any missing data or mistakes; it's my first publication and one of my initial designs. Please be kind and offer constructive feedback.
