ABS replacement strut

ABS replacement strut

thingiverse

This open-source part is from MBI's files available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4973. It was created as a replacement for a broken plywood strut on the ABP during assembly. The original user broke it while assembling their Thing-O-Matic in March 2011. They attempted to CAD and use local college's CNC machines to improve MBI files, which were difficult at that time. Revision F is cleaner, but hidden block libraries should be deleted for easier part manufacturing. In May 2011, the user printed the ABP strut replacement with bushing holes due to their sons' insistence. They clarified that warped appearance was caused by black paper underneath the part. The file is accurate, but the part size was initially 1mm smaller and hole sizes were also smaller than indicated. The user later learned to adjust 'perimeter' for better printing tolerance. A son tested the part with laser sheet cutouts, which fit perfectly despite small holes. To print, download STL, generate gcode/s3g, and follow through. An update in February 2012 confirmed file accuracy after reprinting with experience; however, upgrades rendered the part unnecessary. The original user marked this as no longer a work in progress.
