ABS Fume Scrubber (Fits Replicator 2X)
thingiverse
I'm designing a fume scrubber to test whether I can remove ABS fumes from inside my machine. The aim of this concept is to keep the warm air inside the printer enclosure while still removing fumes effectively. Things I've learned along the way include: -Adapter section should be as long and gradual as possible to minimize flow restrictions -A 60 mm Fan can move the volume of enclosure five times per minute -I originally used a 3M organic vapor filter, but it was too restrictive for computer fans. Now, I'm trying a carbon household water filter. Optional features: -Wiring and an on/off switch for easy control -Wiring a fan speed controller to adjust airflow -A Fan Gasket for a secure seal Shopping list: -60mm computer fan -Power Supply 500mA X 12V -12V automotive switch -Misc. Crimp Connectors -Motor speed controller -Light gauge wire like doorbell wire -4, M4 Nuts -4, M4 Button Head Cap screws (min. 35mm in length) -Carbon Water Filter (carbon household water filter) -Fan Gasket Print Settings: -Printer Brand: MakerBot -Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 2X -Rafts: No -Supports: No -Resolution: 200 Micron -Infill: 10% Notes: Place parts on the build plate so they are self-supporting. Secure the filter to the plug and adapter with Hot Melt Glue.
