UPDATE 3-22-2018 Several files have been revised following rigorous testing. Fine-tuning of details continues. I opted for a unique blend of the AM8 frame's features and the self-contained design of modern 3D printers. This custom enclosure/frame offers the best of both worlds. High-quality 2020 extruded aluminum was used, ensuring precise construction. M5x10 Button Head Socket Screws with T-Slot nuts are employed throughout. The final design elevates the Z rails and carriage, significantly increasing build volume height. Z motor couplers seamlessly integrate alongside stock X carriages, except for the right (non-X motor) carriage, which required minor modifications to accommodate narrower walls. Dremeling was necessary to achieve a precise fit. Acrylic panels rest securely within slots at the corners, held in place by 3x10mm magnets. Although the magnets are on order, I haven't had a chance to test their final fit yet. The extruder carriage boasts ample clearance for future upgradability. Most of the printer is assembled, and additional photos along with detailed explanations will be added as I complete installation of the clear panels. To-Do List: -I plan to redesign the electronics enclosure for enhanced durability - Status: Obsolete -I may consider relocating the electronics under the bed; however, this option remains uncertain - Status: Complete -Final touches on acrylic panels are still pending -Create a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) -List alternative creator's parts that were used in the construction of this printer -Provide step-by-step instructions for assembly and use -Glamorous photos of the completed printer will be shared once it's finished Credit is due where credit is due: Several components have been borrowed from or heavily influenced by other designs. Nonetheless, the final design has diverged significantly from its AM8 roots and other influences.
