A4 Rocket 420 mm high
thingiverse
This is a compact A4 model rocket for flying! Now available in two sizes. It flies using 18mm motors. The larger one is designed for a C6-3, soaring up to approximately 140m high. The smaller version is optimized for a B4-4, reaching heights of around 90m. This rocket features an integrated baffle system that protects the parachute and includes two points for securing the cords. The walls of the large Rocket are 0.8mm thick, allowing you to print it with a 0.4mm nozzle using two walls. The smaller variant has 0.4mm-thick walls and prints best in a single wall. Large A4: With a diameter of 60mm, this rocket stands at an impressive 420 mm tall. Small A4 measures 32mm in diameter and 235mm in length. When printing the back part, use a brim and print it upside down. Update rev2: - The motor mount has been reinforced for added strength. - The shock cord holes have been relocated. - The nosecone is now more stable than ever. Update rev3: - The connection points for shock cords have been moved. - The motormount has been enlarged to accommodate thicker Klima motors. - The tail section has undergone a weight reduction. Update rev4: - A smaller variant for B4 motor use has been added. - The connection point for the shock cord has been changed again, offering better access now. - The fins of the larger model have been tapered. The baffle system performs exceptionally well, with no damage to the parachute whatsoever. Before flying, please conduct a swing test. Stability is extremely delicate, and depending on print parameters, your CG might be too far back. In this case, add 10-20g of weight to the tip to achieve stability. Swing Test: Attach a new motor to the rocket and connect a cord to its center of gravity. Swing it around; if it flies correctly in the correct orientation, it's okay. If it tumbles, it's unstable. Add weight to the tip until it flies correctly. This model has been successfully printed with PETG using a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.15mm layer height, and temperatures of 240°C for the nozzle and 70°C for the bed on an Ultimaker 2+ extended. Do not print this rocket in PLA, as it will melt due to the heat generated by the rocket motor!
