As an engineer at a prestigious High School academy, I'm passionate about introducing students to the thrill of aeronautical engineering through our PLA Glider CAD and flight challenge. This season's glider, specifically designed for October, has exceeded my expectations in every way - it flies better than any model I've ever printed! However, to unlock its full potential, you'll need to use high-quality PLA with precise settings: .25 layers, 1 or 2 perimeters, and top-bottom layers, all at an infill of 10-25%. Don't be afraid to get creative - change the color after the first layer if you like! Just remember that Cura, Slic3r, and Simplify3D can all be tweaked to perfect the first layer. The key is to make it rich in material and slightly compressed onto the bed, ensuring a strong, fused bottom layer that will withstand even the toughest flights. To really feel its performance, fly this glider by hand and subtly bend the entire fuselage to adjust lift - you'll be amazed at how responsive it is!
