A-Z Cryptex with 'clicking' haptic feedback
thingiverse
I designed a customizable cryptex that I invested considerable time into perfecting the haptic feedback of its rings. To assemble this project, simply print top_ring, bottom_ring, one of four available bases (4, 5, 6, or 7 letters), all required letters, and an equal number of internal rings. Use super glue to attach separate parts together. Edit: As Jaybob08 suggested, it's also possible to melt the parts together using a soldering iron to fuse edges together. Edit: As Guyjantic suggested, apply lube to parts that don't need gluing to avoid accidentally gluing them together. Edit: Instructions for gluing: 1. Take bottom_ring.stl and attach one internal ring (internal_ring.stl) to it, ensuring notches align. 2. Place outer_ring belonging to the last letter of your keyword on the internal ring from step 1. 3. Take a new internal ring and glue it to the internal ring from step 1, allowing the outer ring to rotate freely. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all internal rings and outer rings are placed. 5. Glue top_ring.stl to the final internal ring. Note: Be cautious when gluing; avoid attaching any outer rings, as this will result in a non-functional cryptex. Happy printing!
