A TRINKET
prusaprinters
Nothing says I love you more than “do you know how many times I had to print this thing to get it right?” AND you can print in two colours with no special equipment!Of course if you don't want to go that effort the model will be fine in a colour without the inlay, but where's the joy in that?INLAY - To take it to the next level, you will need to print six hearts from my “REALLY SIMPLE SYMBOL” model at this link. Coincidentally, they are exactly the size you'll need for the inlay pieces! This model may look a bit tricky, but if you print it full size (26mm) it will print cleanly without support. Print as shown, with the hearts on the vertical walls “upside down”. I printed it with a .40 nozzle and 0.15 layer heights (PrusaSlicer) 0.15 QUALITY settings.NOTE - because you will no doubt be using two different types of filament, there are no guarantees that the two models will have adequate (ie zero) tolerance. I have kept the model deliberately slightly undersized - with the same filament fit is “gentle tap” which is a bit unnerving with those thin corner columns!Life will be easier if you scale up this “TRINKET” model by 1%, after which you should end up with a perfect push (not tap) fit. (If you do this do not scale the hearts!)ASSEMBLY- The best method is to place one of the hearts on a flat surface, and push the model onto it. This will give you a perfect flush alignment - if you try to do this by hand you are likely to push too far. Any “over insertion” can be easily fixed by once again placing the model on a flat surface and pushing the insert from the opposite side with a small screwdriver or other implement. To make the inserts really secure (one of mine has become a little looser than the others due to repeated removal and replacement) put a small drop of cyanoacrylate (superglue) on a toothpick, and place it on the internal seam from behind the insert. It will only take a tiny amount of glue combined with a fair amount of patience, to end up with a flawless job. When you have finished your next job is to work out what to do with it. I have it on good authority that it would look terrific threaded on an expensive gold chain, but unless one of you posts a photo, I will never know!
