A Thicker Makerbot Replicator 2 end-stop switch spring replacement
thingiverse
Many thanks to DexCisco for making this mod incredibly easy by including an OpenSCAD file with his thing. I managed to rip off that spring arm in my first month of owning the machine when some filament came loose from the spool and slapped against it, hooking the little arm and sending it flying somewhere in the room. I never did track it down. For five years now, I've been dealing with a bit of waste print taped in front of the little button that occasionally fails and needs retaped. I made several mods to my machine over the past couple of weeks and was browsing through the list for Replicator 2 things when this mod caught my eye. I tried it out and my machine didn't hit the switch, just making a terrible noise. That's when I remembered a little note that came with the fan duct mod saying to tape a small printed block to the side of the feed motor. I use a different air cooler that wraps around the bottom, which means it actually hits before the standard stopping place, so I had to thicken the front of the spring arm to stop my machine from making a terrible noise. I included this duct in my list of remixes, if you want to check it out. And it worked! I printed a few degrees hotter than normal to make the plastic stick together a little better because of those small little bits sticking up.
