A storable, many armed, Lötgnu - Third hand, soldering aid, with storage case
thingiverse
I redesigned my previous third-hand design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2442217) to make it perfect for storing electronics gear. It's still great for soldering, but now I can easily stash my tools and parts when not in use. To match the look of cheap Chinese clothes pegs often found in Australia, I revamped the design with a new storage case that fits seamlessly together. The original threads printed flawlessly, even though I had to print them horizontally – no issues at all! The lid on this updated version doesn't slide on; instead, it drops 10mm forward of the base and then slides back into place when closed. It's a clever design that keeps everything secure. Update: November 14th, 2017, I added mesh to the lid to fix an issue with S3D software. Update: March 11th, 2019, I swapped out spring clamps for desk clamps – a great solution found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2702273, remixed by mdkendall.
