A Stellated Icosahedral Snowflake
thingiverse
This is a project that I've been conceptualizing for a long time. The underlying polyhedron is one of the 59 highly symmetrical stellations of the icosahedron, characterized by its unique geometric properties. This polyhedron surface consists of 60 congruent pentagonal faces that are intricately connected. The faces come in 20 sets of three coplanar faces, showcasing a sense of precision and order. Each of the 60 faces is carefully etched with one point of a fractal snowflake, adding an element of complexity to the overall design. Despite its solid appearance, this model has a hollow interior, revealing a surprising contrast between form and function. This intricate creation was brought to life using BlocksCAD, a powerful tool that allows for precision and control in 3D modeling. Those interested in exploring or modifying this project can do so by editing it directly at BlocksCAD: https://www.blockscad3d.com/editor?from=68087.
