The statue belonged to a person who stood tall in a temple, ruled by native kings from Sais, a city in Egypt's western Nile Delta. Despite being unidentified, we know he lived during a time when the land was united under one ruler. His name and title would have been written on the lower half of the sculpture if it were intact. The face is depicted with gentle features that were considered idealistic for the late 26th Dynasty. This style of depiction was repeatedly used in sculptures created in later centuries, giving us a glimpse into what was considered beautiful at the time. A notable aspect of this statue is its emphasis on the person's Adam's apple.
