This is a majestic statue that showcases a Rishi, an esteemed Hindu sage. The term Rishi originates from the ancient Vedic tradition, where it refers to an inspired poet who crafts hymns from the sacred Vedas. In post-Vedic Hinduism, these rishis are revered as "visionaries," "great saints" or "sages" who attain profound understanding and eternal wisdom through intense meditation (tapas). This profound realization is then composed into powerful hymns. The statue was unearthed in Cambodia's Angkor Thom region.
