A Present Cache Box

Crafting puzzle boxes into geocache log containers is a thrilling endeavor. The inspiration for this particular box stems from Mr. Burns' Mystery Box, which can be found online at thingiverse.com/thing:3845118. Regrettably, my initial build of that box faltered upon its first usage, but the concept of a false bottom box proved sound enough to warrant further exploration. Consequently, I modified the method for extracting the false bottom to incorporate magnetism. The false bottom itself boasts sideways-facing magnets, while the exterior of the box features ribbons containing additional magnets that can be leveraged to hoist the false bottom upwards. The design relies on eight nyodimium 2x10 mm magnets, although it's possible to opt for a more modest setup consisting of four magnets, with the remaining ribbons secured to the box via adhesive. To complete the top of the box, I employed a ribbon bow reminiscent of the Christmas Gift Box found online at thingiverse.com/thing:197159. To achieve this effect, I utilized a Z offset of 5mm to print the bow in a contrasting color to the lid while the lid remained on the bed.
