Boris Korolev made significant contributions to his time : he worked at the College of Fine Arts under the People's Commissariat for Education. Created monuments as part of the plan for monumental propaganda, and was a member of various artists' associations. He boldly experimented with form, one of the few Russian sculptors who enthusiastically adopted 1920s styles. Korolev returned to realistic language. The portrait of a peasant emerged during his work on the statue "Tolstoy in his last years," created for the school marking the writer's 100th jubilee.
