To connect the contacts, the wire ends are angled and melted into the housing using a soldering iron. For the circuit to function properly, the lower wire (minus) must be connected directly to the button. The upper wire (plus) should be connected to the anode (long lead) of the LED. Meanwhile, the cathode (short lead) is attached to the pushbutton.
