A Flight of Hairsprings
thingiverse
This is a collection of nine hairsprings with varying weights to help calibrate the accuracy of the 3D-printed Watch with Tourbillon. When I printed the watch, I required a significantly heavier spring to maintain relatively accurate timekeeping, even when printing in PLA. Four ticks are heard per second - tick-tock-tick-tock - and my watch ran at half speed despite reducing the balance wheel weight. The hairsprings included here (listed from lightest to heaviest: lightest, lighter, light, medium-light, medium, medium-heavy, heavy, heavier, heaviest) cover a range of about 10 times in stiffness.
