A Filament Spooler

A Filament Spooler

This 3D filament spooler is a modified version of the spooler found in Woern et al.'s RepRapable Recyclebot (2018). I've upgraded it with a faster motor that runs at 500 rpm to work seamlessly with industrial extruders, while keeping its core design intact. The transmission belt has been replaced with an O-ring for improved performance, and the main axle threaded rod, ball bearings, and pulleys have all undergone modifications to enhance overall efficiency. To simplify the design, I've eliminated the horizontal beam used in the original RepRapable Recyclebot Spooler, making it unnecessary due to the increased size of the assembly. As a result, no heat inserts are required. The changes made were successful, and the spooler now functions as intended. Just like its predecessor, the empty spool can be loaded by removing one hub, placing the new spool on the threaded rod, and tightening the hub back in place. Additionally, the PWM circuit's potentiometer allows for precise control over the spooler speed. This modified spooler, just like the RepRapable Recyclebot it's based on, is designed to be open-sourced, so feel free to build it, share it, and customize it as needed.
