A conformal bone plate on a Humerus bone
grabcad
A 3D-printed bone plate designed for better fixation features a conformal inner surface that matches the bone's contour. The model begins with an imported .stl file of an anonymous patient's humerus using SolidWorks' Scan to 3D interface. After converting the mesh to a surface, a block is imposed over the geometry, and a Surface Cut is used to give the bone shape to the block's surface. A Lofted Cut removes excess material, while Fillets and Cuts further refine the plate's shape. An imaginary fracture line is added for reference but not visible in renders.
