A Clockwork Spider

The revamped design replaced the initial version's shortcomings, utilizing Greg Frost's Involute Spur Gear Script (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3575) and the Spur Gear Fitter Script by cbiffle (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6894). It eliminated the poor gears from the earlier version. Special thanks to Dna for his Rubber Band Ratchet Engine (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6939), which powers this mechanism and was also rendered in a YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDTNTEjXaco). The STL file showcases the assembled mechanism. For optimal performance, two full clockwork spider mechanisms with a rubber band engine at the center are recommended to turn both center gears. A MK6 or other stepper extruder is highly suggested for printing, as DC-based extruders may cause cleaning issues. Each plate only requires about 15 minutes of print time. Assemble and rotate the center gear to make the spider walk.
