A Better Mouse Trap

A Better Mouse Trap

thingiverse

Cathal Garvey recently posted a challenge on Thingiverse list, "Mouse get!", which involves designing and printing a humane mouse trap using a Makerbot. He wants a trap that can hold a mouse securely. Cathal has designed his own trap and is currently printing it; he will test it once done in a few hours. Although not the most material-efficient design, he believes it will work as a maximum security mouse-trapping device. When the mouse steps on the ramp, the support pulls away, closing the trap tightly. However, Cathal faced issues with his bot while building it. To assemble the trap, print two pieces - top and bottom. Insert a pin through the holes so that the top acts as a door. Attach duct-taped toothpick to noncorrugated cardboard for a ramp at the back of the trap. Use a folded 1cm by 4cm strip of thick cardboard as stand to prevent closure. Place rubber band around the trap, tie string from the support's end to the toothpick for raising the ramp, and hot-glue if needed. Bait the ramp and wait for the mouse.
