We're pleased to report that Blackmagic has since addressed this issue. If you purchased a BMPCC4K in 2019, rest assured it won't be affected by this problem. Upon testing our Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4Ks, we discovered an annoying issue with the battery doors. After opening and closing them several times, they would start to randomly swing open on their own. Further investigation revealed that a weak plastic part was responsible for latching the door shut. Fortunately, it's just a simple fix. We created a reinforced version of the latch mechanism using sturdier materials. This upgraded design is significantly more reliable and we highly recommend swapping yours out too. The process involves removing two small screws that cover the internal mechanism within the battery door. It's not complicated at all!
