A Better Bed Riser for 3D Printers

The purpose of this part, typically required in quantities three or four, is to elevate the print bed by approximately 50mm. This design supersedes an earlier model with a similar function - it boasts superior rigidity, particularly when printed with PETG which has a tendency to flex. Why raise the print bed? Because I created a new carriage assembly for a BMG extruder, RJ45 cable connector board, and BLTouch, aimed at maintaining the nozzle as close as possible to the MGN12H bearing slider. However, this setup resulted in the nozzle being positioned too high, rendering the stock FT-5 bed unable to reach it. To rectify this issue, these bolts replace the previous M3 screws and springs that suspended the heated bed. You can then reuse the old springs and screws to reattach the bed at its new height of 50mm. The additional tapped holes for M5 screws offer enhanced stability; simply drill holes 14mm from the original bed mount holes and position them as desired. The two extended arms on the riser are designed to hold corkboard squares, available at stores like Walmart or online, which help minimize heat loss from under the bed, promoting better heating. While not essential, they significantly enhance performance. This riser is engineered to accommodate larger bed knobs; simply refer to the photos for a visual representation. To ensure optimal results, print this part in the same orientation as the STL file; supports are unnecessary due to its robust design.
