A basement for your Kossel with dampening feet
thingiverse
A "breathing-room" for your Kossel to give it extra ventilation, electronics isolation and cable-management space. The extra height makes it a lot easier to add or replace parts like bigger screens, additional boards, cooling fans, other position for the PSU etc. The Parts: Corner-pieces: The shape of the corner-pieces is similar to popular corner reinforcements of Maketo. Dampening feet: This thing is originally designed for professional vibration dampeners that I had in stock. But i used them for another project so i created printed ones. They work great in reducing the vibration and noise. Included are three types: soft, medium and stiff. I myself use the soft ones. See printing instructions. 2020-frame-pieces: Of course you can use aluminum frame-pieces (2020 but also 2040). But since you have a printer you can also print them. Included is a stl of a 285mm solid frame-piece. You can print it in vase mode. Because this thing does not add to the strength of the printer you can use these. They are surprisingly strong and can be used for light loads. To make mounting possible, the length of the pieces must between 280 and 285 mm (Kossel lineair plus). For other Kossels take the length of the original horizontal aluminum pieces and subtract 15 mm (since i have no other Kossel, this is an educated guess). Extra: two mounts for 90mm fans are included. The long one is for general airflow, the short one for cooling your main board in the first place. ---------- Assembly: - Be sure the 2020-frame-pieces fits well at the corner-pieces and can slide. - Screw the printed dampening feet to the corner-pieces with M5 screws/bolts. If you bought 25x25xm6 rubber feet, make a M6-threat first. - Put M4-bolts and t-nuts on the corner-pieces. Use the holes closest to the feet. - Put the corner-pieces and the 2020-frame-pieces loosely together before mounting it to the kossel. - Mount the frame to the kossel, corner-piece by piece. By sliding the 2020-frame-pieces you can reach the bolts/screws. - If the corner-pieces sits tight and aligned, use t-nuts and M4-bolts to secure the 2020-fram-pieces. Happy printing :)
