AUTOMATIC ABOVE GROUND POOL FILLER...Got tired of constantly overfilling my pool. I designed a clamp that fits securely onto the edge of my pool using a toilet float, but I had to modify it since my pool features a 16mm x 16mm metal lip hidden beneath plastic "beauty" pieces. This filler sits neatly under the top plates of these beauty panels. Initially, I used galvanized pipe, but I highly recommend switching to PVC instead; I needed holes for the pipe and float, which measure 23.4 mm (3/4" EMT). Once you determine your desired water level, simply cut your PVC pipe to match the height of the top bracket – a task I still need to complete myself. I also left out the mid-clamp, unsure if it's truly necessary, but I built it anyway. The overall cost of this project should total around $20 USD as of August 2018; screw holes are 4mm and I used self-threading screws for ease of assembly. Please note that "auto_fill_top_V3" is specifically designed for my pool with a 16 x 16 mm edge, so you may need to adjust the design accordingly. Using a thick shell setting will allow you to drill out any necessary holes for your bolts or pipe; I used 1.6mm shell for this purpose. The images accompanying this post are of an older, less robust clamp I created earlier – a stronger and more compact top clamp is available in the files section.
